Hot Topics is an ongoing series of booklets about recent changes and current debates in the law. It is a community legal education initiative of the Legal Information Access Centre (LIAC).
Each topic provides a comprehensive plain language summary of the law, vetted by legal professionals. Case studies, further reading and contacts are included.
Hot Topics is a source of information for general members of the community who want to understand a particular legal issue or change in the law. Community workers and other professionals will also find it a useful way of keeping up to date.
Hot Topics is designed to complement the NSW Higher School Certificate syllabus (Legal Studies and other options), so teachers and students will also find it a useful resource. High schools in NSW can subscribe directly or purchase Hot Topics through the State Library's Infocus service.
Hot Topics is distributed to all public libraries and a range of community organisations in NSW. It is also available for sale. Click here for a full list of available topics and the order form. Subscriptions are available on an annual basis ($82.50 for five issues). Alternatively, individual or multiple copies can be purchased ($17.60 each). Prices include postage and handling.
