Exchange of Letters between the Commission and the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (66/2/Euratom)

THE EUROPEAN ATOMIC ENERGY COMMUNITY

THE COMMISSION

The Director General for External Relations

Brussels, 18 November 1965.

Sir,

I note with satisfaction that the discussions between our representatives on arrangements for cooperation between our two organizations have recognized the value of the cooperation which already exists in scientific and technical matters between the International Bureau of Weights and Measures and the Euratom Commission.

As a result of these discussions our representatives have expressed the wish that this friendly relationship, based on regard for our statutory tasks, should be continued and strengthened by the exchange of information made freely available by both parties, by joint consultation, by the attendance of observers from either side at working sessions on matters of common interest and by such other appropriate means as may be agreed.

The purpose of this letter is to confirm that the Euratom Commission is ready, for its part, to give effect to that wish.

I should be happy if you were able, on behalf of the IBWM, to reply with a similar confirmation ; this letter and your reply thereto would thus constitute the reciprocal undertakings of our two organizations as to future cooperation, which would take effect from the date of your reply.

Please accept, Sir, the assurance of my highest consideration.

F. CANCELLARIO d'ALENA

Mr. J. Terrien Director of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures Pavillon de Breteuil Sèvres (Seine-et-Oise).
