extending the Arrangement relating to clause 2 of the Agreement between the European Economic Community and the Socialist Republic of Romania on trade in sheepmeat and goatmeat

Letter No 1

Sir,

With reference to the Agreement between the Socialist Republic of Romania and the European Economic Community on trade in sheepmeat and goatmeat signed on 28 April 1981 and, in particular, to the discussions held between the two sides pursuant to clause 14 of that Agrement, I have the honour to inform you that, for the duration of the Agreement, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Romania will continue to ensure that Romanian products are marketed within the Community in such a way that there is no change in the traditional pattern of trade with France and Ireland.

In particular, the competent Romanian authorities will ensure that exports to France and Ireland are restricted each year to the following quantities:

- France: 144 tonnes, expressed in carcase weight,

- Ireland: nil.

I should be obliged if you would acknowledge receipt of this letter.

Please accept, Sir, the assurance of my highest consideration.

For the Government

of the Socialist Republic of Romania
