The Conference will be preceded by the annual meeting of the Free Access
to Law Movement on 17 November, and the conference proper will take
place on 18-19 November.

CALL FOR PAPERS
This year we hope to have a particular focus on the following areas:
encouraging free access to law in developing countries; Europe's moves
toward coordinated free access to law; social impact of access to
legal information; legislation systems; search techniques for legal
information; and innovative research uses of online legal data. Papers
in these areas are particularly welcome. More information can be found

SPONSORSHIP PACKAGES
There are a number of sponsorship packages available for those interested
in sponsoring the 2005 Conference. Please contact Cathy Quigley

NEW AND UPDATED DATABASES
AUSTLII
"Point-in-time Legislation Project"
The PiT Legislation System allows an AustLII user to see an Act or
section as it was at any day in the past, for those years covered
by the system. Users can inspect all versions of a section, and
can visually compare sections at different dates side-by-side.
AustLII's PiT already covers all NSW legislation, and part of the
legislation of South Australia and Queensland. These databases
are considered to be experimental. This project aims to apply a
generic approach to developing point-in-time legislation which
will now be applied progressively to legislation from all Australian
jurisdictions

conventions that 21 Pacific Island states have entered into, in a
wide-range of categories. The project also identifies the
ratification (domesticating) legislation passed by those countries.
The agreements (treaties) contained on the website include,
amongst others, environmental treaties, fisheries agreement,
human rights, peacekeeping treaties and the international
conventions these Pacific Island states have entered into. The
Pacific Islands Treaty Series displays the international rights and
